Welcome!
We seek to worship God faithfully and to reach out into God’s world with the love of Christ.
Worship is the weekly event around which all of our other ministries exist and is central to all that we do at Central United Methodist Church.
Communion is an integral part of our worship, and it is offered on the first Sunday of each month. Communion is open to all.
In accordance with the CDC’s May 13, 2021 guidance, masks are now optional at our in-person worship services. Although we have resumed in-person worship at Central Church with certain precautions (e.g., physically-distant seating), if you do not feel comfortable venturing out just yet, please join us any time for online worship on our Facebook page to hear Pastor Jan’s message for the coming week.
(Due to COVID-19, our meals are currently
being provided on a take-out basis.)
Check out our “Effective Stewardship” page!
Each month, we feature a new Stewardship theme and reflection to help each of us be a better steward of what God has entrusted to us.
We thank God for the opportunity to provide free warm and nutritious food for body and soul to many people in the City of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, as we work to cultivate a season of peace and joy for the people God has placed in our lives.
“Come to me all you who are weak and burdened and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
America is a wonderfully blessed country. We have enough food and opportunity to go around. But some miss out and go hungry. 20% of children in Pennsylvania do not know where their next meal will come from. Food security is a problem for many in our community.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Beaver County is among the poorest counties in western Pennsylvania. People come to Central Church who haven’t eaten for days. Some have been out of work for years and don’t expect to find work anytime soon. They have no money. They’ve run out of benefits. They feel that life will only get worse. They are hungry and need someone to care.
Central Church provided over 10,000 free, nutritious meals to our community in 2013. In 2014, that number increased to 11,500, and the numbers of the hungry coming to us continue to increase.
- During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, 27,599 meals were provided, and continuing in the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022, an incredible 32,328 meals were provided! That’s an increase of 4,729 meals from the year before – a 17.1% increase in a single year.
In Matthew 9: 37, Jesus said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Similarly, this essential community outreach is only made possible through the generosity of many small givers, an active congregation of less than 25 dedicated souls, and essential partnerships with area churches and dedicated outreach groups. (Please click on the “Donate” button in the right column of this page if you would like to support this critically-needed outreach ministry.)
Every meal that we serve is hot, nutritious, and wholesome. A warm welcome and a promise from God go a long way to lift a heavy heart. When someone knows how much God cares, they don’t feel lonely and powerless anymore.
Please join us to care for those in hard times. Your gifts meet desperate needs for food, and you pave the way for hurting people to be blessed.
This is our prayer for everyone who walks through our door – providing hope for new life.

New to Central Church?
At Central, we are a loving and supportive church, which welcomes all persons as Christ did regardless of age, race, gender, cultural background, physical or mental health, family status, or financial circumstances.
Welcome to Central UMC and our Church community. We invite you to Belong, encourage you to Grow and offer you opportunities to Serve.
BELONG: Central Church is a community experience where everyone is welcome. We invite you into worship, join study groups and other fellowship opportunities on Sundays and throughout the week.
GROW: Spiritual Growth is our number one value at Central. Our community is made up of small groups. Whether it is a drop in class, Bible study, music group or meditative study, we offer you a choice. We want to meet you where you are.
SERVE: Our Church Promise is Reaching Out with God’s Love. We are an outreach community with many opportunities for you to pursue your gifts and make a difference.
Central Church is a place to connect with others, connect with yourself and grow with God.();
Very nicely done. Having a map on exactly where Central is located was a very nice touch also. I see no reason to change anything on this website. GOOD JOB!!!!! Chris S.
Good job Barb. A very active, outreaching church which we need more of.
Any group of believers small or large is a heart warming reminder of the assurance of God’s unfailing love through Jesus Christ!
Glad to have stopped by!
Thanks!
Hi. I stopped there today to see if you needed any volunteers for anything. I’m new to the area and looking for a church to worship in also. My name is Adrienne Flora and my # is 412.853.6943 call me if you need any help at all.
Sincerely,
Adrienne Flora
Hi Adrienne,
Welcome to the Beaver Falls area. We’re glad to see you here on our Facebook page and Website, and will look forward to seeing you in person at Central Church again when your schedule permits.
If you’re interested in our feeding outreach ministry, you probably saw today our Friday evening meal that we provide to the folks in the area every week. We also have a “Soup Tuesday” luncheon every, you guessed it, Tuesday at lunchtime, and it transitions into a “Sundae Tuesday” luncheon during the summer months. We also have a Saturday Breakfast that is available on several Saturdays of each month. It’s true what they say about Methodists – We know how to eat!
On Sundays, we have our adult Sunday School class at 10 am, followed by our morning worship service at 11. Our class is now investigating Max Lucado’s short book, “Anxious for Nothing – Finding Calm in a Chaotic World”. It’s been a pretty good study so far, and when we wrap it up, we’re also looking forward to starting Amy-Jill Levine’s “Short Stories by Jesus – The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi”. It’s a study of the parables that Jesus taught. I just ordered the books this week, so they should be here whenever we’re ready to move to it.
We have about 10 folks in the class, and it’s a nice, low-intensity gathering that you might enjoy.
The best way to see about where you might want to help in any of the feeding ministries is to have a quick chat with our principal leaders, Barb or Shirley, before or after our worship service on Sunday.
In addition to looking after the website, I also serve as Central’s organist, so please stop by the organ console some Sunday to say Hi.
Thanks again for your message today, and I’ll look forward to meeting you!

Hello. Thank you so much. You’ll see me on Sunday.
When I originally commented I appear to have clicked on the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now whenever a comment is added I receive four emails with the exact same comment. Perhaps there is a way you can remove me from that service? Thank you!
Hi Arnoldo,
We are sorry that you are receiving four notifications for every Comment. While every comment deserves attention, no one needs to read four identical comments each time one is posted!
Unsubscribing from comment notifications must be addressed from your end. At the bottom of each email message with a comment notification that you receive should be a notifications button that you can click to unsubscribe.

Christian greetings from a fellow laborer in the Lord Jesus Christ!
My question is do you have guest speakers at your church?
I am a Creation Science Evangelist and my ministry is titled DAYS OF GENESIS
I teach Creation versus Evolution to adults.
Thank you for your time in the Lord and hope to hear from you soon!
